There is no doubt about it, that many author’s cut their teeth on writing short stories. Many go on to make a career from writing shorts, along side writing full-length novels. You only have to look at the Amazon charts to see some of the illustrious names with short stories published, with the likes of Steven King, Agatha Christie, James Patterson and a whole lot more all contributing to the craft.

I found this very interesting. I also cut my short story teeth on the Authonomy site and the pleasure that I have from that is incalculable and i have recently won a teeny competition myself on the shortbread stories site. I love the way that they are little teeny bites of fiction and so much can be condensed into so few words.
