This short story made my head spin. It takes place some time in the future, when economic and social conditions in the USA and Great Britain have deteriorated a great deal from the current time. There were some truly nasty things implied (or at least that I inferred) about the powers and people running the two respective governments. There was a quick reference to Hitler, which I believe was there to get you in the right frame of mind to see what the author was implying. Last but not least there was the most heinous use of a kindle that I can image, or at least that’s what I inferred. This is a story with layers and implications to keep you thinking far after the time you have finished the story. I wish it was longer, and I really don’t like what I think was about to happen when the story ended, but then I think that is the whole point of the story.

My advice to those considering writing short stories is to search for short story reads in a genre that you enjoy and to read and absorb as much experience as you can from studying them.
